All options remain open for So You Think following his latest European victory in the Irish Champion Stakes but trip home to Australia is the most unlikely.
Trainer Aidan O’Brien was again looking for superlatives, branding So You Think “an incredible specimen of a thoroughbred” following his gutsy win over Snow Fairy at Leopardstown.
The strapping Australian import, formerly trained by Bart Cummings, has made a dramatic impression since joining O’Brien for whom he has now won three Group Ones, including the Coral-Eclipse and the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Sent on his way the 1-4 favourite under Seamie Heffernan, the five-year-old entire had to work very hard to fend off the sustained challenge of the Ed Dunlop-trained Snow Fairy.
“It’s a long time since he ran, and you’d always be worried about that,” O’Brien said.
“We’ll discuss things during the week now as to where he’ll go next.
“He cruises through his races and all options are open to him.
“He is an incredible specimen of a thoroughbred.”
John Magnier, head of the Coolmore triumvirate, said Ascot and the Prix de l’ARc de Triomphe were among the choices for the dual Cox Plate winner.
“He’s the kind of a horse who we are spoilt for choice with options,” he said.
“He could run in the mile race at Ascot (Queen Elizabeth II Stakes), the mile-and-a-quarter race (Qipco Champion Stakes, Ascot), or he could run in the Arc.”
Of a potential return to Australia, Magnier added: “You could never say never, but it’s not imminent.”
British bookmakers left So You Think at 5-1 for next month’s Arc which is over 2400 metres at Longchamp.
